Purpose: Maintaining the correct handstand position when movement begins is vital. Starting with Shoulder elevations will allow the gymnast to start movement, increase shoulder strength, core strength and awareness of the body during the handstand. Being able to elevate the shoulders is extremely important for tumbling, vaulting and bars.
