Learning the Back Handspring with the aid of an Octagon

Purpose: This is a level 4 practicing her back handspring over the octagon. This allows the coach to look at the form of the skill and make corrections without having to spot. It also develops the courage to go backwards which can be scary for some when they are first learning this skill.

Set up: A Tumbling Mat folded to stand on and a medium Octagon.
